What is solution focused hypnotherapy?
Solution focused hypnotherapy is different to other types of traditional hypnotherapy. It focuses on the present and future rather than the past and combines solution focused brief therapy, neuroscience and some elements of NLP (neuro-linguistic programming).
Solution focused hypnotherapy is an amazing tool for improving mental health and helping people achieve their goals. It is a totally positive therapy and guides you to move forward, change your mind-set and enable you to take control and move forward with your life confidently and positively.
How does it work?
Most solution focused hypnotherapists work in the same way.
The first step is the initial consultation which usually takes around 50 minutes. This session gathers information about you and we will then let you know immediately if we can help you. We will then help you to understand how the brain works to create anger, depression, anxiety, OCD, phobias etc and what we can do about it. We will then give you a CD or MP3 link to a relaxation audio for you to listen to each night before your first session.
Subsequent sessions are also 50 minutes in duration and include a 30-minute trance session. We will measure your outcomes together so that you can see your progress and start to make those changes in your mind that will last throughout your life.
You will normally need between 8 and 12 sessions.
Who can it help, and how?
Solution focused hypnotherapy helps with a whole range of issues such as stress and anxiety, depression, confidence and self-esteem, panic attacks, fears and phobias, insomnia, managing your weight, stopping smoking, and even just for relaxation. It is about the present and future rather than the past.
In your sessions, you’ll be asked to set realistic goals for the future and will be able to take those steps towards achieving your goals. Hypnotherapy is used to help lower feelings of anxiety and to help to replace those negative thoughts with positive ones.
What happens when you are in trance?
Hypnotic trance is a natural state and nothing to be afraid of. We go into trance many times a day such as when we are driving, out for a run, or even watching TV. Hypnotic trance works by allowing the conscious mind and subconscious mind to work together and focus on the same thing and is a powerful tool to help to make those positive changes to our lives.
